What is Biofertiliser?
Biofertiliser is a ferment made from a biological base in water and enriched with foods to feed biology and minerals for biology to digest. The final product becomes a solution that contains chelated minerals, biocoloides, hormones, biocatalysts, and micro-organisms. It can nourish, regenerate and activate life in the soil, it revitalizes plants and stimulates their immune system against disease, fungi and insect attack. It can also be used as a substitute for expensive chemical and biological fertilisers.
What makes our courses different?
We help farmers create wealth. We don’t sell you products. We teach you about soil and plant health and the value of using organic and biological inputs that chelate bio-available minerals in solution, utilize beneficial microbes and prevent pest and disease outbreaks. The difference is at the end of our courses you have also been taught the methods and processes of how to actually make these inputs yourself rather than having to line up at the register to purchase our products year after year. Therefore our courses are a small investment in your education and farming enterprise that pays for itself very quickly and frees you from ever increasing input prices.
Are Biofertilisers as effective as conventional inputs?
Yes, in fact over time they are more effective as increased soil health increases your crops resilience to pests and diseases. However, it’s not a matter of substituting one product for another as in a conventional system. It is a holistic approach where biofertilisers are a part of a whole system fertility plan and a period of transition is usually required to repair your soil health and reduce your reliance on chemical inputs.
How do Biofertilisers scale for large commercial to small boutique enterprises?
The beauty of making your own inputs is that all our methods and processes are scaleable. They can be made easily in small amounts by hand or mechanized to suit very large farming operations.
What specialised equipment is involved in making your own Biofertilisers?
One of the advantages of these methods and processes is that the cost of capital infrastructure to get started is very low and therefore extremely affordable to test and transition at your own pace. Most hardware and material items required are within easy reach of the average landholder.
How much can you save?
It depends on what your are growing and how much you are currently spending on commercial inputs, including fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides etc as well as water and pumping costs. However by making your own products and increasing your soil health, you can make exceptional savings and even increase your yields.
Is this course for me?
If you are a commercial farmer currently purchasing artificial or biological inputs, then this course is for you. If you want to improve your soil and plant health, improve your pest and disease resistance or improve your soil water holding capacity, this course is for you. If you are feeling the financial pinch, no doubt about it, depending on your context, this course may mean the difference between having a profitable year or not and for years to come.
